The Greater Niagara Ballet Company presents the On School Time production of THE NUTCRACKER, based on a tale by Ernest Hoffman & choreographed Ivanov to the music of Tchaikovsky.
Act 1 - The curtain rises in the living room of Herr Silberhaus. Family & friends gather to celebrate Christmas Eve. Clara, enchanted by the festivities, awaits the arrival of her mysterious Uncle Drosselmeier who brings magical presents for the party. Uncle Drosselmeier presents his niece, Clara with a very special Christmas gift of a Nutcracker doll.
Act 2 - The curtain opens to a magical scene, where enchanting angels prepare the way for the Sugar Plum Fairy and playful Jesters, who usher in the magical dwellers of the Land of the Sweets. Clara greets the Sugar Plum Fairy & tells the tale of the battle between her Nutcracker Prince & the evil Rat King. Overcome with gratitude towards Clara for saving their beloved Prince, the Sugar Plum Fairy crowns her queen for the night & all the Sweets perform their favorite dances in her honor.
